Whale of a good time!

I've been sooo busy sewing for the holidays and wrapping and taking care of my mom that I haven't made a blog entry in a very long time.  Well, holidays are over, wrapping is way over and mom went home yesterday so . . .

My niece texted me this morning and told me she had been crazy busy (she has a 7 month old son and she is a high school basketball coach and it is basketball season, so she is one very busy lady) anyway, she had a shower to attend this afternoon and hadn't had a chance to go shopping so was there any way that I could stitch up a few things for a special friend?  She told me that the nursery had a nautical theme and they loved whales and it would be a girl, so . . . I headed to my sewing room to see what I could do.

I made the burp cloth first with the deep blue whale and pink name and I added a wide striped ribbon on the bottom of the cloth.  I knew that the nursery was blue and green with some pink but not sure just which blue or which green, so I tried several different colors each with a hint of pink.  Second I made the white onesie with the little pink whale and deep pink name.  I found a cute little onesie with little hearts all over it so I just added a monogram to that one and then I decided that a receiving blanket with a whale would be a nice addition to the mix.

I heard from my niece this afternoon and she said that the gifts I had stitched were the hit of the shower.  That made my day.

On another note I made a cute shirt and skirt for a friend's daughter in Florida for her fourth birthday.  I think the set turned out really cute.

I've also stitched up a few new T's for one of my grandsons.  He loves wearing them to preschool.  Can you tell that he LOVES trucks?

It's late and I need to get to bed.  Just wanted to share a few things.  Happy stitching!
